Dream Lover, c'est aussi le titre d'un film d'Alan Pakula, dans lequel une jeune fille volontaire pour tester un médicament sur le sommeil se met à rêver éveillée et à confondre réalité et fantasmes. Ses cauchemars l'envahissent sous forme de variations sur une agression qui a été commise dans son appartement sur la précédente locataire. Elle se met en scène alternativement comme victime et comme agresseur. Le film avait remporté le grand prix 1986 du festival du film fantastique d'Avoriaz.
