Cohérent, et beaucoup de disques qui, s'ils ne sont pas dans mon panthéon, sont passionnants. J'ai cependant une question. J'ai maintes fois écouté Muswell Hillbillies. Ce n'est pas un mauvais disque, loin de là. Mais qu'y trouves-tu de meilleur que, mettons, les 5 précédents Kinks ?

Les albums de la période 1966-1972 sont tous très bons, ça ne se joue pas à grand-chose, mais Muswell Hillbillies a pour lui d'être un parfait OVNI : je ne connais pas beaucoup de disques qui fassent le pont entre les deux rives de l'Atlantique avec autant de malice et de goût. Ça aurait aussi bien pu être Arthur, mais sans doute pas les trois autres : Village Green me semble manquer d'un véritable « hymne » de la trempe d'un Shangri-La ou d'un 20th Century Man, et Face to Face et Something Else auraient pu être encore meilleurs s'ils avaient inclus quelques-uns des titres parus en 45 tours à l'époque (Dead End Street, Autumn Almanac, etc.).

J'ai même pensé lui ajouter un petit commentaire spécifique avant d'envoyer mon message. C'est LE disque qui m'a marqué l'année dernière; j'en ai d'ailleurs fait la chronique sur mon blog. Je trouve le travail de production vraiment impressionnant.
